On Being with Krista Tippett

Interviewer, Editor & Executive Producer

What I Learned

This episode of On Being features excerpts from the first podcast that I produced and hosted – Creating Our Own Lives – that was also the first podcast from On Being Studios.

It was our first attempt as an independent production studio to make something that would be a part of the On Being ethos – spirituality, meaning and connection explored through the lens of running, and then in the second season, humor. I learned all about launching a podcast through this work – in 2016, it was so much simpler to see your logo on the top of the Apple Podcast charts! – and everything I learned to do and not do helped our team iterate, experiment and ultimately build out the On Being Studios podcast portfolio to include Becoming Wise, This Movie Changed Me, and Poetry Unbound.

Running As Spiritual Practice

Original Air Date: August 18, 2016

We explore a topic our listeners have called out as a passionate force and a connector across all kinds of boundaries in American culture: running. Not just as exercise, or as a merely physical pursuit, but running as a source of bonding between parents and children and friends; running as an interplay between competition and contemplation; running and body image and survival and healing.
